Krupikova Oksana, a Russian gymnast who has lived in Shanghai for more than a decade, expressed her love for Shanghai and said that the night view of the Huangpu River is as attractive as Moscow when she was interviewed for Shanghai Through Our Eyes, a video series featuring foreign expats discussing their impressions of the city.

Oksana is a professional rhythmic gymnast who founded Bodylab Dance Center in Shanghai in 2016, which currently has three outlets in the city.

"I have heard many good things about China since my childhood. My grandfather joined the Communist Party when he was young, and he told me a lot of good things about China like the Chinese people are very hardworking and that the country has been developing extremely well," says Oksana.

"He passed his love for China to me when I was a child."

Oksana has had a strong affinity for China since she was young, and she found that the country was exactly the way that her grandfather described when she finally came to China.

"Shanghai is attractive to me because it develops fast, and includes different cultures, making it a highly internationalized city," she says. "People here are very friendly, and I feel comfortable living here."

Oksana likes strolling along the Huangpu River after work, and she says that the beautiful night view of the river often reminds her of the Russian song Moscow Nights.

"The lyrics aptly describe the night view of the Huangpu River, which embodies the enchanting and inviting nature of Shanghai," she says.

Oksana has settled down in Shanghai, and her seven-year-old son is studying at an international school in Pudong. She always encourages her son to study Mandarin and learn more about Chinese culture, passing on her family's passion for China to him.
