The 2019 Human Resources (HR) Technology Conference and Exposition, the world's most influential event focusing on the integration of HR and technology, was held at the Shanghai World Expo Center from May 14 to 15.

With its theme of "technology empowering people", the event attracted over 6,000 executives and professionals from both home and abroad to discuss how to leverage technology to boost the development of the HR industry.

More than 100 enterprises specializing in service, consultancy and technology products showcased advanced technologies and new trends in the HR industry at the exhibition, which covers an area of 7,000 square meters.

Nearly 50 discussions were held covering topics such as how to use cloud technology to help HR executives make better business decisions, how artificial intelligence technology can accurately select talents for enterprises, and how to use big data to analyze the relationship between enterprises and employees.

Dong Chunmei, vice president of marketing research company Nielsen, released a blue book on talent management, which comprehensively analyzes how to make HR a core advantage of a company and what the challenges are, providing targeted recommendations to help companies identify new opportunities to optimize work environment and payroll benefits.

Li Xunlei, chief economist of Chinese securities company Zhongtai, delivered a keynote speech on the contribution of HR to China's economic growth. The higher the quality of the labor force, the faster economic growth will be.

Ma Haigang, general manager of HR Platform Department of Tencent Technology Co, said that new technologies will provide practical application scenarios for HR managers to deal with tough situations.

As more and more companies apply artificial intelligence technology to HR work, experts agree that HR managers will experience changes in work content from repetitive low-level work to more complicated tasks involving planning, decision-making and organizational strategy.

The current HR industry in China is going through a crucial phase of transformation and upgrading. By 2020, China needs to establish a specialized human resources service system which is equipped with sound information technology and is in line with the strategies of industrialization and internationalization.

In recent years, AI technology, cloud computing, big data, video, and other core technologies have experienced exponential growth and development and are being applied extensively.

The HR industry in China is riding on this technology wave to keep abreast of the global trends and best international practices. More and more technologies are being researched, developed and applied to the HR industry, and many dynamic companies and people with knowledge of the HR industry are forging ahead at a rapid pace.
