Shanghai Jiao Tong University has launched a project to establish a science park in Zhangjiang area, south of Pudong New Area, on April 12.

The science park is located next to the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility and Shanghai Academy of Science & Technology. In the future, there will be three science centers and two innovation platforms boasting thousands of scientific talents.

The science park covers an area of 54.3 mu (3.62 hectares), while the construction area is 100,000 square meters. The park is expected to begin operating in 2020.

The park will focus on solving key scientific problems on the forefront of the science and technology industry. In addition, it will develop key technology and enhance international influence in key scientific areas.

The park will also boost the integration of production, teaching and research, and support the development of relevant industries. It will be a place for nurturing high-level talents.

The material genome innovation and science center will focus on solving problems related to structure and light-catalysts. It will establish a big data analysis center and four platforms (two for technology and two for application).
