Science festival a platform for creative minds

The 2017 Pudong Science Festival opened in Shanghai's Zhangjiang area on May 25.

More than 60 selected tech companies attended the opening ceremony and displayed over 100 cutting-edge technologies and products covering a wide variety of sectors and uses including clothing, food, home appliances, transport, and entertainment. 

Five exhibition areas have been set up with the following themes: smart wearable, smart catering, smart home, smart transport, and smart entertainment. The products will allow visitors to the festival to experience developments in the world of technology that promise to change people's daily lives.

Shanghai Xinfeng Micro-electronics Co exhibited a handful of electronic products such as smart robots and a voice-controlled mushroom-shaped lamp. Yuji Co introduced the functions of both its intelligent air and water filtration system.

Visual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies also form an important part of the festival and visitors can experience simulated outdoor cycling, car racing, 9D films, and others.

Makers from various Shanghai-based incubators gathered during the opening ceremony to exchange ideas about the latest technologies.

Other events including science shows, DIY activities, and a cyber-game competition were staged to enable participants to take part in some techno fun.

Officials from Pudong commission of technology and economy explained that the science festival is expected to bring together innovative tech projects, startups and incubators to give local youth a better understanding of current technologies and their great influences on our life.
